Extra height means extra space—buy or rent
High Cube Containers
Get more volume without adding width
Do you need more headroom for cargo, shelving, or a renovation? A High Cube container has an interior height of 2.70 m, which is approximately 30 cm taller than a standard container. It has the same width and length as the corresponding standard container.
The extra height provides more volume and better space for tall or long items. The space also feels less cramped when you’re moving around inside it. You can choose between 20- and 40-foot sizes, as well as new, Premium, and Cargo Worthy options, depending on availability and intended use.
We’ll help you determine whether the extra height meets your needs and whether there is sufficient headroom upon delivery.

30 cm higher
High-cube containers have the same width and length as a standard container. The advantage lies in their height and volume, which can be crucial when storing shelving units and tall or long items. Inside, a High Cube is approximately 2.7 m tall, which is higher than the ceiling height in many single-family homes, prefabricated homes, and apartments.
Remember to check the delivery route
The extra height must also be able to fit through
It is important that you check gates, overhangs, branches, and power lines before delivery. A High Cube container is taller both on the ground and when being transported by truck. You can view all container sizes here.

Frequently Asked Questions
How tall is a High Cube container?
A High Cube container is approximately 2.90 meters tall on the outside. That is about 30 cm taller than a standard container, which is approximately 2.59 meters tall.
Inside, a High Cube container is approximately 2.70 meters high, which is also about 30 cm higher than the interior height of a standard container. This is higher than the normal ceiling height in many single-family homes, prefabricated homes, and apartments.
What is a High Cube container used for?
High Cube is used, among other things, for tall cargo, pallet racks, bulky goods, and container conversions. The extra height provides greater volume without increasing the container’s width.
Are High Cube containers available in both 20-foot and 40-foot sizes?
Yes, CHS Container offers both 20-foot and 40-foot high-cube containers. The selection of new, Premium, and Cargo Worthy containers may vary. We also offer high-cube flatrack containers and high-cube reefers.
High Cube, when the standard height isn't enough
What’s the difference?
A standard container is approximately 2.59 meters high on the outside. A High Cube is approximately 2.90 meters high. The difference of about 30 cm may seem modest, but spread out over the entire length of the container, it provides noticeably more volume.
The width is the same as that of a standard ISO container. You therefore get more space without taking up more width.
When is extra height relevant?
High Cube containers are often chosen for tall machinery, stacked goods, pallet racks, and items that cannot fit through a standard container door. They are also widely used for remodeling projects because the extra headroom provides more space for insulation, utilities, and interior finishing.
20 or 40 feet?
A 20-foot High Cube provides extra height in a relatively compact space. A 40-foot High Cube offers both a large floor area and a large volume. Please note that a High Cube can only be loaded with the same weight as a standard container. Before placing an order, you should measure the longest, widest, and tallest items, as well as check the door opening, in addition to the interior dimensions.
Placement and Delivery
High Cube containers require special attention to the clearance height along the delivery route. Gates, trees, roof overhangs, and overhead power lines can be an issue, especially when the container is being transported and lifted by a crane truck.
CHS Container can deliver from depots in Hinnerup, Fredericia, Kalundborg, and Copenhagen. The typical delivery time is 2–4 business days.
