Quality categories

Choose your quality category

At CHS Container, we have developed three container quality categories that make it easy for you to find the right container for your needs. Each quality category reflects the condition of the container and its previous history.

When a container is approved for sea freight, this means that it complies with a wide range of standards for how the container can be used, tightness, floor strength, load capacity according to the weight indication on the doors. A sea freight approval is your guarantee that the container can do what it is supposed to do, regardless of quality category.

No matter which quality category you choose, your container is always

quality

At CHS Container we offer three quality categories for containers: One Way (new), Premium (used in good condition) and Cargo Worthy (older but functional). Each category is approved for sea freight and ensures the container is wind and watertight and structurally intact.

Choose the category that best matches your storage or transportation needs.

A new container has had a single voyage on the lake and is one of our most popular categories. The container may have some handling marks, even though it is new. However, the container is still in good condition. The container can last for many years and can be used for sea freight, storage, transportation and much more. However, a new container may have, as previously written:

  • Handling tracks
  • Color difference if it has been in the sun
  • Dents or scratches – However, the container still looks good.

A Premium container is a used container that is wind and waterproof. The container is often seen with repaired dents, holes or patching squares in a different color than the container itself. The container has handling marks and scratches from previous use. These containers have often been used for shipping for several years and are therefore likely to have scratches. A Premium container is a good example of a cheaper container. Furthermore, this container still has many years left on land and is approved for between 12 – 24 months of sea freight. A premium container can have:

  • Handling tracks
  • Buler
  • Scratches
  • Lap splicing
  • Patches that are a different color than the container itself
  • Typical surface rust

A cargo worthy container is the cheapest container we offer and is also very popular among our customers. The container is wind- and watertight and approved for 12-month sea freight. The container is an older container and has typically been used for sea freight, which is also evident from its condition. The container is still functional and can be used for storage and other purposes. The container’s lifespan varies depending on whether it will be used at sea or on land.

A cargo worthy container can have:

  • Buler
  • Scratches
  • Handling tracks
  • Lap splicing
  • Shorter lifespan on the lake compared to new and premium containers.
