New containers (one-way)
Choose a new container for many years of use
Will the container be placed in a visible location, used for many years, or modified? A new container offers the best condition and the best foundation for long-term use.
New containers are also called “one-way” containers because they’ve typically only been used for a single shipment from the factory to Europe. As a result, they may have minor handling marks but show significantly less wear than used containers.
Choose between 20- and 40-foot sizes, as well as standard height and High Cube. We’ll help you determine the size, location, and delivery details before you place your order.

When Appearance Matters
A container you don't have to hide away
A new container is ideal for use near homes, stores, and businesses, where it is clearly visible. Its uniform surface also makes it well-suited for painting, signage, and remodeling.
Think Beyond the Purchase Price
A few more years of use can make all the difference
A new container costs more than a used one, but it also has less wear and tear and a longer expected remaining service life. This may be the sensible choice when the container will be used for a long time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a new container completely unused?
A new container is also called a one-way container. It is manufactured abroad and has typically been used for a single shipment to Europe. As a result, it may show minor signs of wear from transport and handling.
How long does a new container last?
A new container is built to last a long time. A service life of 20–25 years is typical, but this naturally depends on location, environment, maintenance, and usage. A new container is in the best condition for many years of use because it has only limited wear and tear from transport and handling.
Can a new container be used for ocean freight?
New shipping containers are typically supplied with CSC certification. If a specific container is to be used for international sea freight, the certification, marking, and transport requirements should always be verified before shipment.
New containers with minimal signs of use
What does “one-way” mean?
The term “one-way” refers to a container that is typically manufactured in Asia and loaded with cargo on its first voyage to Europe. It has therefore been in transit but has not been in regular, long-term use. That is why it is referred to as new, even though minor scratches or marks may be present.
When does a new container make sense?
A new container is particularly suitable for permanent or visible locations, long-term storage, and projects where a clean exterior is important. It also serves as a good starting point for customization with, for example, doors, windows, electricity, lighting, ventilation, or shelving.
If the container is only to be used for a short period of time, or if its appearance is not a priority, a used Premium or Cargo Worthy container may be sufficient. The choice should therefore be based on the total duration of use and your requirements—not just the purchase price.
20-foot, 40-foot, or High Cube?
A 20-foot container takes up less space and is often easier to position. A 40-foot container offers roughly twice as much floor space. A High Cube provides approximately 30 cm of additional interior height and is suitable for tall cargo, shelving, or conversions.
Delivery and Placement
The container must be placed on a level and stable surface with support at the corners. There must also be sufficient space for a crane truck, as well as for lifting and opening the doors. CHS Container can review the access conditions with you before you order the transport. Read our guide to container delivery.
With more than 300 containers in stock and depots in Hinnerup, Fredericia, Kalundborg, and Copenhagen, delivery can typically be arranged within 2–4 business days.
