Refrigerated containers are typically designed to maintain a constant temperature, not necessarily to rapidly cool hot cargo. The initial temperature of the cargo and air circulation are important factors.

Reefers, refrigerated containers, and freezer containers are the same thing
A reefer, a refrigerated container, a freezer container, and a refrigerated and freezer container are just different names for the same type of container.
When a stable temperature is needed
A reefer can be used for many purposes
Use it, for example, as a freezer container for fish and shellfish at -20°C, or as a refrigerated container for vegetables, milk, or flowers and plants at +4°C. It’s also ideal as a refrigerated and freezer container for remote areas that lack standard infrastructure, such as festivals, settlements in Greenland, or military outposts.

What is a reefer container?

How much power does a refrigerated container require?

How a reefer differs from insulated containers
A standard insulated container mitigates temperature fluctuations but does not regulate them. A reefer combines insulation with an active cooling system. It is therefore used when storage requires a specific temperature rather than simply minimizing the effects of the weather.
The age, temperature range, and functionality of the refrigeration system vary from container to container. It is important to ensure that your requirements match those of the specific container when selecting your reefer, refrigerated container, or freezer container.
Specific operating conditions affect efficiency
A freezer container requires a stable power supply and unobstructed airflow around the unit. If the airflow is blocked, the doors are opened frequently, or the contents are warm, this can affect the temperature and energy consumption. Items should be arranged so that air can circulate throughout the container.
It’s no different than when you use your refrigerator or freezer at home, even though the container is simply larger.
20 or 40 feet? Domestic or shipping standard?
A 20-foot reefer provides compact, temperature-controlled storage. A 40-foot High Cube offers greater capacity and extra headroom, but requires more space for delivery and placement. Choose the size based on your net storage needs, access, and the expected air circulation around the goods.
In addition to size, containers are also classified by condition. When it comes to refrigerated and freezer containers, a distinction is made between domestic reefers and shipping reefers. Domestic reefers are new or lightly used refrigerated containers with functioning refrigeration systems. Shipping reefers are used containers without functioning refrigeration systems and are therefore often used as an alternative to insulated containers.

Please specify the desired temperature, container size, number of containers, location, and whether power is available. Also agree on who will monitor the temperature and respond in the event of a system failure.
