Temporary cooling capacity with temperature control

Refrigerated and Freezer Containers for Rent

Make room for extra refrigerated and frozen storage when the need arises

Do you need additional refrigeration or freezer capacity for a limited time, or do you simply not want to invest in purchasing that capacity?

A refrigerated and freezer container and a reefer container are two names for the same type of container. They are the same thing; only the name is different.

You can rent a reefer container and have a temperature-controlled warehouse located close to your operations. This may be useful during a busy season, while a permanent cold storage room is being renovated, for events, or for projects with a temporary need.

You can rent 20-foot reefers and 40-foot High Cube reefers. They can be used for refrigeration or freezing within the specific model’s temperature range, typically from -25°C to +30°C. Before delivery, we’ll clarify temperature requirements, space needs, power, and access conditions to ensure the container is suitable for your project and location.

Rentals for peak season, festivals, and other limited periods

The cold storage facility can be located close to the production area

A rented reefer can be placed at your business, event, or project site. You gain extra capacity without having to invest in a container, especially if your need for it may only last a few weeks or months.

Please ensure proper setup

Temperature, current, and location must all be in sync

The desired temperature is only one part of the solution. The reefer must also have the proper power supply, adequate airflow around the engine compartment, and sufficient space for delivery, door opening, and daily access. All of these factors influence what the right solution is.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a freezer container?

The rental price depends on the container’s size, the rental period, the delivery address, and the selected equipment. Transportation costs for delivery and pickup are also included in the total price when you receive the quote. Therefore, you’ll get the most accurate price by providing your address, the desired size, temperature, and expected rental period.

20-foot reefer containers and 40-foot High Cube reefers are the most common. A 20-foot model takes up less space, while a 40-foot High Cube offers greater capacity and extra interior height.

Yes, but make sure to check the specific reefer’s lowest temperature before you rent it. A reefer can often cool down to -25°C. Some models can reach even lower temperatures.

When Does Renting Make Sense?

Renting is a good option when the need has a start and an expected end, or when you are unwilling or unable to purchase a reefer. A refrigerated container can provide extra space during peak seasons, while a permanent refrigeration or freezer room is being renovated, or when an event requires temporary storage close to the kitchen and serving area. It can also be used for projects and job sites without permanent refrigeration facilities.

You’ll avoid tying up money in a container that might end up sitting unused afterward. However, if your need continues year after year, buying may be cheaper over time. CHS Container can help you compare the expected rental period, transportation costs, and purchase price.

20-foot or 40-foot High Cube

A 20-foot reefer is suitable for smaller shipments and locations with limited space. A 40-foot High Cube offers greater capacity and extra headroom, but requires more space for a crane truck, unloading, and daily access.

The reefer’s insulation and machinery take up space. As a result, the interior dimensions are smaller than those of a standard shipping container with the same exterior length. Check the floor area, interior height, and door opening based on the goods and equipment that will be loaded into the container.

Operations must be planned before delivery

A reefer requires a power supply that is compatible with the specific model. There must be adequate airflow around the unit, and the goods must be arranged so that air can circulate. The unit is generally best suited for maintaining goods at the desired temperature. Therefore, the temperature of the goods at the time of loading is important.

Also agree on how the temperature will be monitored during the rental period and who will respond in the event of an operational disruption. Temperature requirements, power supply, and location should be clarified before scheduling transportation.

Rental Period, Pickup, and Return

The rental period and terms are specified in the offer and CHS Containers’ rental terms and conditions. Notice of termination must be given in writing in accordance with the agreed deadlines. Upon return, the container must be emptied and cleaned, and the power must be able to be safely disconnected before pickup.

The delivery address affects the shipping cost and the practical location. Please provide information about fences, gates, soft ground, trees, utility lines, and other conditions that may restrict the truck’s access or the crane’s lifting capacity. See our guide to container delivery.

If the need becomes permanent

A rental agreement allows you to meet a temporary need without owning the equipment. If the reefer is to be used on a permanent basis or over several seasons, you should also calculate whether it might be more cost-effective to purchase the container. The sales page describes sizes, quality categories, and options for new and used reefer containers.
