Always operational regardless of category
Quality categories
Choose your quality category
At CHS Container, we have developed three container quality categories that make it easy for you to find the right container for your needs. Each quality category reflects the condition of the container and its previous history.
When a container is approved for sea freight, this means that it complies with a wide range of standards for how the container can be used, tightness, floor strength, load capacity according to the weight indication on the doors. A sea freight approval is your guarantee that the container can do what it is supposed to do, regardless of quality category.
Learn more about our quality categories below.
No matter which quality category you choose, your container is always
- Approved for sea freight for a minimum of 12 months or more, depending on quality category
- Wind and waterproof with closed doors
- With functional and seafreight approved floor
- Structurally sound and compliant with interior and exterior dimensions
- With functional doors
Choose "
" quality
At CHS Container, we offer three quality categories for containers: One Way (new), Premium (used in good condition), and Cargo Worthy (older but functional). Each category is approved for sea freight and ensures that the container is wind- and watertight as well as structurally sound.
Choose the category that best matches your storage or transportation needs.
One way container - New container
A new container has been used for a single sea voyage and is one of our most popular categories. The container may have some minor handling marks, even though it is new. However, the container still looks good. The container can last for many years and can be used for ocean freight, storage, transportation, and much more.
However, as mentioned earlier, a new container may have:
- Handling tracks
- Color difference if it has been in the sun
- Dents or scratches – However, the container still looks good.

Premium container
A Premium container is a used container that is wind- and watertight. These containers typically have repaired dents, holes, or patches in a color different from that of the container itself. The container has handling marks and scratches from previous use. These containers have usually been used for maritime transport for several years and therefore are expected to have scratches. A Premium container is a good example of a container available at a lower price. Furthermore, this container still has many years of service life left on land and is approved for 12–24 months of maritime transport.
A premium container may have:
- Handling tracks
- Buler
- Scratches
- Lap splicing
- Patches that are a different color than the container itself
- Typical surface rust
- The container doors may be a little stiff, which can be remedied with a little oil or grease.

Cargo worthy container
A cargo-worthy container is the most affordable container we offer, and it is also very popular among our customers. The container is wind- and watertight and approved for 12 months of ocean freight. This is a used container that has typically been used for ocean freight, as evidenced by its condition. The container is still functional and can be used for storage, among other things. The container’s lifespan varies depending on whether it will be used at sea or on land.
A cargo-worthy container may have:
- Buler
- Scratches
- Handling tracks
- Lap splicing
- Shorter lifespan on the lake compared to new and premium containers.
- The container doors may be a little stiff, which can be remedied with a little oil or grease.
