30 cm extra height. No commitment.

High Cube Containers for Rent

When 2.59 m in height isn’t enough

A High Cube container is approximately 30 cm taller than a standard container. The extra height provides space for tall cargo, shelving, and goods that make full use of the container’s volume.

Renting is ideal for temporary or fluctuating space needs where it doesn’t make sense to tie up funds in a purchase. The price typically includes the rental fee itself as well as transportation for delivery and pickup. Size, rental period, delivery address, access conditions, and any necessary modifications are included in the specific quote.

Before requesting a quote, you should measure the goods and the doorway, check the clearance height along the delivery route, and find a level, stable surface. This will allow you to determine the size, placement, and transportation details before planning the delivery.

When 30 cm Makes All the Difference

Make the most of the space without taking up any extra width

A High Cube has the same exterior width as a standard container but is approximately 30 cm taller. This provides greater volume within the same footprint and more space for tall items, stacked goods, and shelving. If the cargo fits easily into a standard container, the extra height isn’t necessarily relevant.

Avoid surprises on delivery day

Check access, clearance, and the surface

The truck must be able to drive up, unload the container, and leave the site again. Therefore, check for gates, roof overhangs, branches, power lines, and the space around the desired location. The ground must be level and stable, and there must be space in front of the doors so that the container can be used throughout the rental period.

Frequently Asked Questions

How tall is a High Cube container?

A High Cube container is typically about 2.90 meters high on the outside and about 2.66 meters high on the inside. The door opening is about 2.57 meters high. By comparison, a standard container is about 2.59 meters high on the outside. Dimensions may vary slightly between models, so specific product dimensions should be verified before ordering. View all container dimensions.

High Cube containers are used, among other things, for tall cargo, shelving units, stacked goods, and other items that require more headroom. The extra height can also be useful for temporary setups where installations or interior cladding take up space. If the contents can fit through a standard door and do not utilize the full height, a standard container will often suffice.

Yes. A 20-foot High Cube has approximately 13.67 m² of floor space and a volume of 36.29 m³. A 40-foot model has approximately 27.96 m² of floor space and 74.22 m³ of volume. CHS Container rents out new, Premium, and Cargo Worthy models depending on inventory status. Dimensions and capacity should always be verified for the selected model.

High Cube for a temporary need for extra height

What’s the difference?

The difference lies in the height. A High Cube container has the same base dimensions as the corresponding standard container, but offers more headroom above the cargo and a taller door opening. This is particularly relevant when the upper part of the container would otherwise go unused, or when a piece of cargo is too tall for the standard door.

The choice is therefore not about more floor space, but about utilizing the space above the cargo. Measure the actual headroom, taking into account shelving, packaging, and any installations, before choosing a model.

When is extra height relevant?

High Cube is a good choice when the height or door opening limits the layout. This can be the case with machinery, stacked goods, or shelving units. For a temporary layout, the taller model can also provide space for insulation, ventilation, and lighting without making the work area unnecessarily low.

Instead, choose a standard container if the cargo can pass through a doorway approximately 2.26 meters wide and the extra headroom won’t be used. This can reduce both rental costs and clearance requirements during delivery. A High Cube should therefore be chosen based on dimensions and intended use, not simply because it has a larger volume.

20 or 40 feet?

Choose a 20-foot container when space on the lot is limited, or when the cargo can fit into the shorter model. Choose a 40-foot container for larger storage needs, long items, or when a single container is more practical than several smaller ones. Always compare the dimensions of your cargo with the door opening and the interior dimensions of the specific model.

A 40-foot container requires a longer, level location and more space for delivery. If your needs fall between the two sizes, you should therefore consider both the expected volume and the truck’s ability to access the site. This reduces the risk of choosing a capacity that cannot be properly accommodated.

Renting is particularly relevant for projects, seasonal fluctuations, renovations, or temporary storage needs. For a long-term need, the total rental cost over the period should be compared to the purchase price. This makes it easier to choose based on the actual period of use rather than just the monthly price.

Location and Delivery

Once the size and location have been selected, transportation must be evaluated as a whole. The delivery address, space for the crane truck, and the desired placement determine how the container can be positioned. Photos of the access route and the location can make this process easier.

CHS Container delivers from depots in Hinnerup, Fredericia, Kalundborg, and Copenhagen. The typical delivery time is 2–4 business days, provided the requested container and transportation are available. The final schedule depends on inventory status, delivery address, and access conditions.

Request a quote that lists the size, quality, rental period, delivery, pickup, and any customizations separately. This makes it easier to compare the total cost and verify what’s included.

Once the quote is approved, delivery is scheduled based on the address and the agreed-upon location. At the end of the rental period, the container must be emptied, cleaned, and accessible so that pickup can be completed.
